Something I did
Hello November!
Whew. The post-holiday weeks haven’t been the best for us in terms of health issues. 🥲
First, my wife developed a cough on the Saturday we came back from Japan, which turned into wheezing and shortness of breath. Given her medical history, we went to the doctor and turns out she has a form of asthma/bronchitis.
Then we realised a few of her family members have a history of asthma. Everything makes sense now!!
Thankfully it’s much better now, but meant that I was holding the fort; juggling house stuff, back to work and all the other stuff that happens after a longer trip.
Which leads me to another thing; my foot tendonitis has flared up again this weekend and I’m now limping around the house.
I’m not sure what happened either; either I didn’t give myself enough time to recover from all the walking we did in Japan + everything else that happened in the past week. Either way, this has happened a bit too frequently and I’ve booked an appointment to check things out.
Thinking about it, what did we expect? We went from being at home most of the time with a daily step count below 3000 (not counting any other forms of physical activity) to daily walks numbering over 12k steps. I guess this is our bodies rebelling and demanding rest.
Funny thing when your health or mobility is affected - everything else becomes less important. You’re suddenly very aware of access needs and how accessible (or how inaccessible) buildings. Our bodies are smart that way.
Ugh. Frustrating! I don’t like sitting still.
On the positive side though, I met a friend for lunch today, which was awesome. And caught up with a ex-colleague turned friend who’s back from the US for a couple of weeks before flying off again earlier this week.
Some lovely highlights to an otherwise tough week.
Something I’m doing
Besides staying as immobile as possible, I’m back on Starfield. It’s been 2 months and I’m still obsessed with this game’s mix of exploration, wandering, and questing.
Also, my favourite Mamamoo member (Wheein) released a new album this month and it’s a VIBE. It’s been on repeat the past few weeks. I’m excited for the Mamamoo+ fanmeet later in November as well. Back to the Star Theatre to see Mamamoo (after their concert in February.
We also started watching Spy x Family, which is off to a great start! We love the whole 1950’s pan-European/old English professor study room vibes.
What I’m thinking about
I had a very interesting question from my lunch meetup today: “what season of life/business do you see yourself in?
My answer: transitioning out of a slower season back to growth. Business-wise, I’ve spent the year refocusing on my fundamentals (website, legal, processes messaging, marketing and positioning), and now that all these things are wrapped up, I find myself itching to take on new projects and expand my horizons a bit.
