What I did
Lots of cooking and baking!
My favourite dish this week:
My wife found this recipe for a cream stew with mushrooms (and no cream was used; just a white sauce.) The best way to use a veggie pack on clearance from Don Don Donki. And it was so yums! getting better at making sauces.
Another Japanese dish - simmered mushrooms, beef and tofu with rice. Kinda like sukiyaki but with fewer ingredients. Perfect for the slew of rainy days we’ve been having here in Singapore.
This one was a combination of both of our family favourites: kolo mee with blanched choy sum (note: vegetables do best when it’s fresh! And salted duck soup using my grandmother’s recipe.
Other dishes:
Egg carbonara with ham and mushroom
Oh and over the weekend we baked for the first time in our new house. Did my mum’s butter cake which made our house smell incredible. There’s room for improvement, but it’s yummy!
We realised we outgrew our hand mixer as mixing that made butter fly all over the kitchen (which was a nightmare to clean up after), so we took over my mum’s stand mixer sitting unused in my family home.
What I’m doing
Wednesday is Coldplay day (yay!), so looking forward to that while also dreading the massive crowds that’s going to be there.
reminder to self: concert survival guide.

get there early to get used to the environment
know the exact door and exit to go to for your zone and section
(I realise talking about concerts in this way makes me sound super uncle, but as someone who easily gets overwhelmed in crowds and loud noises, all this mental preparation is necessary to help me get my head around going to a massive stadium for a sold-out concert).
What I’m thinking about
My realisation this week: I need a life outside of work and my business 😂 so I’ve been trying to schedule in things that don’t relate to work.
Also something I’ve been wondering, and open question to the married folk, how much do you talk to your partner in a day? Do you tell them everything that go on in your day, including messages from mutual friends/your friends, or do you maintain separate lives?
For me and my wife, it’s normal for us to tell each other stuff that goes on in our day - including what friends tell us. But we do maintain our separate lives and interests as well. After all we both work from home, and we live in very close proximity so this level of interaction is quite normal. One of our favourite ways to wind down is to sit on the couch next to each other and do our own things.
But I found out recently not everyone thinks this way? So am quite curious how other married couples (with no kids!) think about all this.
Regarding "how much do you talk to your partner in a day?", my husband and I are exactly the same as what you've described lol. One thing I'd add is that we catch up before we go to sleep as well since it's one of the only times of the day where we're not distracted by our devices or notifications. During the day, we normally catch up over coffee or walks around the neighbourhood. Oh, we also send each other cute cat memes throughout the day hahaha.
